About This Project

Inspiration

The inspiration behind ResumeNorth comes from my own experience searching for a job across countries.

When I moved from China to Germany and started looking for employment, I discovered a very real challenge:

Different countries have completely different expectations, writing styles, and hiring cultures when it comes to resumes.

In China, resumes often focus more on:

  • Work experience
  • Project experience
  • Technical skills
  • Job responsibilities

However, in Germany and many European countries, recruiters often pay more attention to:

  • Resume structure and formatting standards
  • How professional experience is presented
  • The match between skills and job requirements
  • Whether the resume follows local hiring practices

Because I was unfamiliar with the German job market and resume culture, I submitted many applications but received almost no responses.

At first, I thought the problem might be my own abilities.

Later, with the help of German friends, I learned how resumes were expected to be written in the local market. After adapting my resume content and communication style, my job search results gradually improved.

This experience made me realize:

One of the biggest challenges in finding a job is not creating a beautiful resume, but understanding what recruiters in a different country, industry, or company actually expect to see.

Why I Created ResumeNorth

The world is becoming increasingly globalized.

More and more people are:

However, resumes still have significant regional differences.

Our goal is not simply to generate a resume, but to help users:

What I Learned

During the development of ResumeNorth, my biggest lesson was:

A great product is not only about solving technical problems; it is about understanding the real challenges users face.

At the beginning, I thought users needed:

But as I explored the problem deeper, I realized users actually needed:

This changed my product vision:

Challenges

1. Understanding Resume Culture Differences Across Countries

The biggest challenge was not technology, but understanding different job markets.

Therefore, AI needs to understand more than just rewriting text. It needs to consider:

Calling an AI API is relatively easy.

The real challenge is:
