Inspiration

I wanted to build a practical web application that solves a common problem: having to use different websites for different file-related tasks. Whether it is compressing a PDF, converting an image, merging documents, or managing files, users often have to switch between multiple tools.

This inspired me to build RealFileEditor, an all-in-one online file toolkit that brings these operations together in a single, simple interface.

What it does

RealFileEditor is a web-based platform for working with PDFs, images, and other common file formats. It includes features such as:

  • PDF compression and merging
  • PDF splitting and organization
  • PDF to Word/Excel/JPG conversion
  • Image compression, resizing, and conversion
  • Background removal
  • PDF signing and watermarking
  • ZIP file creation
  • Batch file processing
  • Target-size file compression

The main goal was to keep the interface simple so that users can perform file operations without needing technical knowledge.

How we built it

While developing this project, I worked on the complete process from designing the interface to implementing the functionality and deploying the application.

I focused on building a responsive and user-friendly frontend, connecting the required file-processing functionality, handling different file formats, and making the application work reliably in a production environment.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was handling different types of files and making sure the application could process them correctly while keeping the user experience simple.

Another challenge was implementing features such as file compression, and batch processing while considering performance, file sizes, and user privacy. File compression was the tough one for me .

What we learned

This project gave me valuable hands-on experience with real-world web development. I learned more about:
