ResumeForge: The Resume Builder for High Schoolers & Students

The Problem

Career planning is broken for our generation. Most resume builders force you into rigid templates, and you end up sending the same resume to a startup and a Fortune 500 company. That's not how the real world works.

The Solution

ResumeForge lets students build multiple tailored resumes without being locked into a single structure. Create one for tech startups, another for corporate internships, another for freelance gigs all in one place, all instantly synced.

Real-world use case: A high schooler applying for an FAANG internship, a local nonprofit internship, AND a startup accelerator can maintain three distinct resumes, each optimized for that specific opportunity. No more "Resume_Final_v3_ACTUAL_FINAL.pdf" chaos.

How It Works

  • Distraction-Free Editor: Just you and your content. No fluff.
  • Real-Time PDF Preview: See exactly how your resume looks as you type
  • Cloud Sync: Your resumes follow you across phone, tablet, desktop
  • Multiple Templates: Different looks for different industries
  • One-Click Download: Export to PDF instantly
  • Google OAuth: Sign in with one tap, your data is secured

Why This Matters

Students spend hours formatting resumes when they should be spending time on what actually matters: their achievements, skills, and story. ResumeForge removes that friction. It's built for a generation that needs flexibility, not cookie-cutter templates.

Technical Stack

  • Frontend: React 18 + Vite + Tailwind CSS
  • Backend: Firebase (Auth + Firestore)
  • PDF Generation: @react-pdf/renderer
  • Deployment: Cloudflare Pages

Key Achievement

Solved critical performance bottleneck: PDF re-rendered on every keystroke, causing crashes. Implemented 800ms debouncing app now runs smoothly even on mobile.

Track

Track 04: "What Do I Even Do With My Life? (AI Can Help)" ResumeForge directly addresses the student career crisis by making resume building fast, flexible, and pain-free.
