Inspiration

Our entire group is currently navigating the internship and job search world, and we felt that it was very isolating and that there was a severe lack of community. We looked into a way to both maximize time while searching for internships and grow connections and so Resume Buddy was found.

What it does

Once a user submits their resume, they will be able to access other matched user accounts and job feed that caters to their resume specs and the job preferences they select.

How we built it

Frontend was HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Backend was planned to be python We wanted to integrate AI and RAG to scan the resumes and provide job recommendations

Challenges we ran into

This was unfamiliar to most of the group members so it was difficult to move forward quickly. The AI was also hard as we had to train it which was very time consuming, but we hope to soon add the AI component to our website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Developing a working frontend interface and increase our teamwork and planning skills. We are also proud of our growth through this hackathon, from our diverse array of ideas to actually discussing and implementing our plans.

What we learned

As this was some of our first hackathons, we learned a lot about all the different tools that the sponsors provided, as well as tools that we had to learn ourselves. We also learned a lot about teamwork and planning early for a more efficient long term project.

What's next for ResumeBuddy

AI and RAG integration to implement the intended functionality of the project. Saving and pushing user data to Firebase or other authentication sources Allow users to connect and have chats
