Inspiration

The job market is tough, and crafting a resume that stands out is even tougher. Most traditional tools offer generic feedback or sugarcoated suggestions, leaving professionals struggling to figure out how to truly improve. I wanted to build something different—a tool that provides brutally honest, actionable feedback to help users take their resumes to the next level. This is how Resume Roaster was born.

What I Learned

This project was a deep dive into leveraging APIs for solving real-world problems. I learned:

How to integrate Sambanova’s Fast API for processing text data at scale.
The art of crafting precise prompts to extract meaningful insights from the data.
Designing a user experience that balances critique with motivation.

How I Built It

Frontend: Built a clean, intuitive interface for users to upload resumes.
Backend: Integrated Sambanova's Fast API for processing resume data and delivering detailed feedback.
Custom Prompts: Designed tailored prompts to ensure that the feedback generated was sharp, relevant, and actionable.
Deployment: Hosted the application to ensure a seamless and responsive user experience.

Challenges Faced

Prompt Optimization: Getting the balance right between harsh feedback and actionable insights was tricky and required a lot of testing.
API Integration: Ensuring smooth communication between the frontend and Sambanova's Fast API, especially handling errors gracefully, was a challenge.
User Experience: Making sure that the tool’s critique was motivating rather than discouraging, while maintaining its core honesty.
