Inspiration

The inspiration behind our product stems from the struggles faced by job seekers in the business and technology fields. We recognized the challenges of finding the perfect resume template and the frustration of lacking the technical skills needed for tailored, professional formatting. Conventional tools like Microsoft Office often proved burdensome, and while online resume builders offer convenience, they limit customization options crucial for a personalized and polished resume. We aim to provide a solution that empowers candidates with an easy-to-use tool for creating clean, professionally formatted resumes, aligning with the preferences of discerning employers in these dynamic industries.

What it does

Our platform streamlines the process of creating a professional-looking ATS-friendly resume. Simply upload your existing resume or copy and paste all texts from your existing resume into our website, and we send you back the PDF file of your new resume, along with the underlying Latex code used to generate it.

How we built it

We leveraged OpenAI’s API for parsing unstructured resume information from the user, along with FastAPI (Python) as the backend and Next.js as the frontend.

Challenges we ran into

One interesting hurdle we encountered was figuring out how to seamlessly communicate with command-line LaTeX tools to efficiently produce PDF documents from our LaTeX code. We ended up using WebSockets for communication between frontend and backend so that the backend and notify the browser that the generated PDF is ready.
