Inspiration
Past research of biases within the job industry and employers. We wanted to find a solution that would stop these biases and hire applicants for their experience and skills.
What it does
Takes an applicant's resume/applicant and randomizes the name to be masculine/feminine and white/black/latino and has the applicant reviewer score the resume (based on how hire-able the reviewer deems them). Then it tells the user the amount of bias they have toward a specific gender and race/ethnicity. Basically an app to test bias present within the hiring/job application process on the side of the employer.
How we built it
We planned to have a python backend that would send javascript frontend the list of names and the resumes to be able to display it on the website/app. We planned out our app idea in Google Docs, then designed the look of the app on Figma, and finally tried to code it into Replit. However we had many problems with the time restraints and trying to learn how to connect python to javascript, and also learning how to display the json files into javascript. However, we are incredibly proud of our hard work and efforts, that we hope to be able to finish the project and connect back end to front end sometime in the future to be able to implement our app into the workforce to remove hiring biases from recruitment through human resources.
