Inspiration

Securing that summer internship is a common challenge among us students. The arduous journey can often be filled with daunting challenges, from not being able to find the right job or not knowing what jobs are out there. The hardest part? Finding opportunities that truly matches your unique tapestry of skills and passions.

What it does

Resumade4u is a platform powered by AI, crafted to optimize the job hunting experience for all users.

By meticulously analyzing distinct resumes to capture the individual characteristics of each user, we align these traits with relevant job opportunities, primarily sourced from Linkedin. This system simplifies finding opportunities that align with a user's unique skill set and career aspirations, making the search for suitable positions more efficient and targeted.

How we built it

Tech Stack:

  • Selenium as a web-scrapping tool to collect job postings from LinkedIn
  • OpenAI to interpret resume content and contextual analysis
  • NextJS frontend framework, coupled with Mantine UI for styling
  • Python and Flask backend to integrate the backend script together with the frontend

Challenges we ran into

Web scraping often results in the accumulation of large data sets, posing difficulties in storage, processing, and efficient analysis. Because websites are structured differently, web scrapping involves the meticulous analysis of the structure of our target website. Thus, we had to think out of the box to implement successful web scrapping solutions. Additionally, numerous websites implement detection systems to identify and obstruct scraping efforts, employing tactics like rate limiting or completely banning IP addresses when they perceive unusual activities.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully accomplished web scraping, integrating it with AI – a triumph indeed! This product stands as our proudest achievement, marking a significant stride in revolutionizing the job search process.

What we learned

Teamwork makes the dream work! Our delegation of tasks allowed us to successfully complete all essential aspects with the short time frame of 24 hours!

What's next for Resumade4u

Apart from LinkedIn, there are numerous other platforms and direct hiring announcements from companies themselves. We aim to integrate these sources into our system in the future.

Additionally, we plan to introduce several features, including a resume builder, the option to upload certifications, support for multiple languages, and a community platform where users can exchange experiences, advice, and network with other job seekers. Enhancing data privacy is also a key focus in our upcoming developments.
