Inspiration

Job hunting today often feels like sending resumes into a black hole. Most people don’t realize that before a human ever sees their application, it’s filtered and scored by automated Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).

I kept seeing talented people struggle to land interviews—even when they had the right skills. The issue wasn’t ability—it was how their resumes were being interpreted.

That led me to build Resulens.AI, a tool that helps users understand how their resumes are evaluated by comparing them directly with job descriptions and providing clear, actionable feedback.

What it does

Resulens.AI analyzes resumes against job descriptions and presents structured insights through a clean, tabbed interface.

  • Score Optimization Breaks down ATS compatibility into Skills, Experience, and Education.

  • Skills & Role Suggestions Identifies missing skills and suggests alternative roles with guidance.

  • Keyword Alignment Highlights missing keywords to improve ATS visibility.

  • Career Timeline Analysis Maps experience into a clear progression view.

  • Layout Review Checks formatting for ATS-friendly structure.

  • Smart Writer Generates tailored summaries and cover letters.

How I built it

I built Resulens.AI using Google AI Studio, where I designed and refined prompts to generate, structure, and iterate the application.

  • AI-Driven Development Used structured prompting to generate frontend components, logic, and UI layouts, then iteratively refined outputs for accuracy and usability.

  • Interface & Styling Built using React with Tailwind CSS to create a clean and responsive interface.

  • System Design Focused on organizing outputs into meaningful sections like scoring, keyword gaps, and career insights rather than just raw analysis.

  • Iteration Process Continuously tested and adjusted prompts to improve clarity, reduce noise, and ensure the results were actionable.

Challenges I faced

One of the main challenges was controlling the complexity of AI-generated output. The system could generate a lot of useful information, but presenting it clearly without overwhelming the user required careful structuring.

To solve this, I:

  • Broke insights into separate sections
  • Made detailed outputs collapsible
  • Focused on prioritizing actionable feedback over raw data

What I’m proud of

I’m proud of how the platform balances depth and simplicity. Even though the analysis is detailed, the interface keeps it easy to navigate and understand.

The design focuses on clarity rather than clutter, making the experience feel structured instead of overwhelming.

What I learned

This project taught me that using AI effectively is less about generation and more about guidance and refinement.

  • Clear prompts lead to better outputs
  • Structure matters more than volume
  • Users need actionable insights, not just analysis
