Inspiration
We decided to create a project for the Mai Shan Yun track since the project could contribute to the local community.
What it does
Our project is a mobile app geared to streamlining restaurant operations. These operations include: table management, taking orders, communicating with kitchen staff, urgent updates, inventory management, and sales analytics.
How we built it
We designed the UI through Figma. We also made a temporary frontend and base code for backend using v0. We used Gemini on Google AI Studio to debug, and Supabase for our database. The languages used in our project are React, TypeScript, CSS3, and HTML5.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge we ran into was scope creep. We tried to implement too many ideas for the project and ran out of time to polish and implement some functions of the app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to make a somewhat functional app because the project we made for our last hackathon did not run as intended.
What we learned
We were able to improve our understanding of TypeScript since it was our first time working with this language on a large project.
What's next for Tempura POS
We will polish the functionality of the app and apply the UI design. We will also generalize some functions to make the app applicable to other restaurants.
