ResQHub — Emergency Help Hub

Inspiration

During an emergency, people may not know where to find the right help quickly. They may need to search for hospitals, emergency services, safety information, or important contacts while under stress.

This inspired us to build ResQHub, a simple emergency assistance platform that brings important emergency resources together in one place.

Our goal was to create an interface that is easy to understand and can help users find the right emergency information without navigating through complicated screens.

What We Built

ResQHub is an Emergency Help Hub designed to provide quick access to essential emergency and safety resources.

The platform includes features such as:

  • Emergency assistance options
  • Nearby help and healthcare resources
  • Safety-related information
  • Important emergency contacts
  • User registration and sign-in interfaces
  • A responsive and easy-to-use interface

We focused on making the experience simple because emergency situations require information to be clear and easy to access.

How We Built It

We built the project using modern frontend technologies.

The user interface was developed using React, with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap for the application structure, functionality, styling, and responsive design.

We organized the application into reusable React components and separate pages so that different emergency-related sections could be maintained more easily.

We also used Git and GitHub to manage our project code and collaboration.

What We Learned

This project helped us understand how a real-world application can be planned and developed from an idea.

During the development process, we learned more about:

  • React components and project structure
  • React state and event handling
  • Creating reusable UI components
  • Navigation between pages
  • Responsive web design
  • Organizing frontend code
  • Debugging React and Vite errors
  • Using Git and GitHub
  • Deploying a frontend project

More importantly, we learned that building a project is not only about writing code. Planning the user experience, organizing files properly, debugging errors, and continuously testing the application are equally important.

Challenges We Faced

One of our biggest challenges was organizing the React project properly while developing multiple pages and components.

We also faced issues with component imports, file paths, project structure, and Vite errors during development. Understanding why an application was not rendering correctly and finding the actual source of the problem required a lot of debugging and testing.

Another challenge was designing the interface so that important emergency information could be presented clearly without making the application feel complicated.

These challenges helped us improve our problem-solving skills and understand the development process better.

What's Next

In the future, we would like to extend ResQHub with more real-world capabilities such as real-time location-based emergency services, verified nearby hospitals and emergency centers, emergency contact notifications, and backend support for securely managing user and emergency data.

ResQHub is our step toward creating a simple digital platform that can make emergency information easier to access when people need it most.
