Inspiration

A local EMS worker brought the problem to our attention, explaining how he has to shuffle through protocols to find the right one to know how to save someone's life. We wanted to make a more efficient version, allowing more time to help the patient.

What it does

It gives EMS workers more accessible and faster access to documents needed in certain situations. The four categories (adult, pediatric, special, and universal) help combine possible documents to reduce scrolling time.

How we built it

We used a platform called Glide to design this app. We built 15+ spreadsheets that transformed our data into app form. It took a lot of time and troubleshooting, but here we are!

Challenges we ran into

All of our team members have used Glide in the past. However, significant updates had been made to the platform, and we had to learn how to use it all over again. After a week of troubleshooting, we could finally start making our app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We showed our app to multiple EMS and healthcare workers, who were thoroughly impressed with our work. They all agreed that this could save someone's life.

What we learned

EMS workers run into more issues than we thought. You would expect that field to be smooth sailing, but we discovered that wasn't true. We also learned how to make a difference, and then did it!

What's next for RESQ

Hopefully, more people will have access to it. We want to show this to more EMS workers so they can find areas for improvement. We hope this can be the tool that all EMS workers need.
