Inspiration
During disasters, people post SOS messages on social media, but these cries for help often get lost in noise. We were inspired by how delayed coordination—not lack of helpers—costs lives. ResQ-Grid was born to bridge this gap.
What it does
ResQ-Grid uses AI to analyze SOS messages, understand urgency and location, and convert them into structured rescue tasks. It then displays them on a command dashboard for faster, coordinated response.
How we built it
We simulated real-time SOS inputs, processed them using AI models for intent and urgency detection, and visualized actionable insights on a web dashboard. APIs and automation glue everything together.
Challenges we ran into
Handling unstructured text, simulating real-time feeds, and prioritizing emergencies accurately were key challenges. Balancing speed with clarity was critical.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a working end-to-end system that turns chaos into clarity and demonstrates real-world impact within a hackathon timeline.
What we learned
We learned how powerful AI can be when applied to real human problems—and how simplicity often beats complexity in crisis systems.
What's next for ResQ-Grid
We plan to integrate live social media feeds, geospatial mapping, and direct coordination with local authorities and NGOs.
