Inspiration
During my intern year as a resident physician in Emergency Medicine, I would find myself on overnight shifts with a sick patient in need of a lifeline. At 3am on a Saturday, it was generally frowned upon to call up the attending for advice unless the patient was truly crashing. The workaround for many of us physicians-in-training was to create private messaging groups where we could pool our collective (though novice) resources. Throughout my medical career in global health, I have found myself reaching out to these same core groups when I need a consult. The COVID-19 pandemic has been no exception, and it presents an even more urgent need--the creation of a medium where all authenticated frontline responders can network with each other over a secure, anonymous platform.
