Resources for houseless communities

Inspiration

To tackle homelessness, we will create a web app that shares resources with the homeless on things like shelter, food, clothing, jobs, etc. using google maps. We can also use the Twilio API to text the information to those who do not have smartphones. Our main "social good" goal was to extend empathy to those experiencing homelessness, allowing access and ease of use for resource search and information that may ease the hardships they face.

What it does

Using a sidebar feature, individuals can filter selections based on warming shelters, hygiene, food, clothing, etc. to search for resources near them.

How we built it

I developed the prototype using Figma and prototyped various filtering selections.

What's next for Resources for houseless communities

Though my team didn't get a chance to develop this on hand, we still came in with the goal of using the Twilio API to text the information for those without access to smartphones. However, there is still the problem for individuals who don't have access to technologies in general. I also want to be able to make selections and help the community when it comes to looking for legal resources, immigration help, and employment.
