Inspiration & Purpose

The website is inspired by the struggles of homeless individuals who often can’t find crucial information about shelters, food, and support. By centralizing these resources, we hope to make it easier for them to get the help they desperately need.

What it does

Our website, Resource Router provides two main features. The first is our map locator which serves as a resource hub for nearby shelters, food & clothing distribution events, etc. The second feature is our AI chatbot, designed as a safe space where underprivileged and homeless individuals can share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns. Its use cases can range from getting assistance in finding nearby healthcare services or shelters to just simply having someone to talk to. Not only that, our chatbot is multilingual, allowing for better communication with individuals from communities where English may not be the most preferred language.

How we built it

We built Resource Router using HTML, CSS, and Javascript code. For the AI chatbot, we implemented the Wizard Orpheus library, which helps build AI bots efficiently.

What's next for Resource Router

We plan to add job opportunities to help homeless individuals find work and start a better life, leading to stability and independence. In the future, we also hope to make our platform more scalable to be used worldwide.
