In exploring 'A Chain of Events', we uncovered a striking paradox in the UK food system. While 8.4 million Britons struggle with food poverty, supermarkets discard 240,000 tonnes of edible food each year. Existing initiatives like the Russell Trust manage to save just 10,000 tonnes - barely 4% of potential rescue-able food. Why? Because connecting excess supply with urgent demand is a complex logistical challenge.

Enter ReSource - our data-driven platform that optimises the connection between supermarkets and food banks. We used linear optimisation to more accurately connect London supermarket’s with surplus product and food bank demands, we've created a system that simplifies the logistics while incentivizing participation through a credit-based reward system.
