Inspiration
Our inspiration comes from thinking about the uneven distribution of resources within and between countries in the Global South and North. Economic development often requires governments to make difficult decisions about how to allocate limited resources across healthcare, education, infrastructure, environmental protection, and employment. At the same time, governments are increasingly collecting large amounts of data about their populations and economies. Can AI could eventually analyze these complex datasets to identify areas of greatest need, predict future demand, and help policymakers compare different ways of distributing resources?
Description
We put together a full project description using Colab Notebook of how we can allocate resources on countries of the Global South covering IRIA score background, stagnation finding, the NLP alignment tool with its results table, and a proposed AI solution to this problem. On a few occassions, we used the built-in Google Gemini to help check our code syntax while making this Notebook.
Challenges
Some of the challenges we've faced in this project was working with the API dataset, as some of our experience working with API dataset ranged from some to none. We also had challenges making optimal data visualizations due to the limited timing we had.
Accomplishments
We managed to complete a project for our first time here at CDC!
What We Learned
Obviously learning how to work with an API dataset but as well as working as an group in how to and present our code in a simplified but meaningful way to our audience. Also further familiarize with our usage of the Colab Notebook.
