Inspiration

listening to music is one of the most universal hobbies in the world. it’s something we do to relax, to focus, to escape but despite being deeply social by nature, it often happens in isolation. i wanted to explore how this everyday hobby could evolve into something that creates value. that idea became Resonate - a concept that turns the simple act of listening into a new kind of social and emotional marketplace.

resonate helps people discover others who share their musical energy, personality, and mood. by translating listening data into visual identities called sound auras, users can form communities, collaborations, or even events around shared taste. In the long term, this can grow into an ecosystem - connecting fans, artists, and brands through genuine human resonance rather than algorithms or ads.

What it does

resonate transforms your music listening habits into a dynamic social identity.

by integrating with platforms like spotify and apple music, it pulls your playlists, top artists, and listening patterns at regular intervals to build a constantly evolving profile of your musical personality.

using a lightweight machine learning model, resonate analyzes your rhythm preferences, genres, and listening moods - then expresses them as a unique sound aura, a colour that represents your individual musical energy.

once your profile is built, resonate connects you with others whose auras align most closely with yours. These connections are visualized through a glowing, interactive social graph, where line brightness represents how closely two users’ music profiles resonate.

over time, as more users join, the network becomes richer and smarter - discovering deeper connections, refining matches, and learning which types of music-driven personalities naturally vibe together.

In essence, Resonate turns a simple hobby - listening to music - into a social ecosystem built around shared emotion, discovery, and connection.
