Inspiration
We noticed a common problem across different environments—work meetings, classrooms, presentations, and even personal relationships. Conversations are often unbalanced. Some people interrupt frequently, some dominate the discussion, and others struggle to express their thoughts. These patterns usually go unnoticed but can affect collaboration, trust, and understanding.
This inspired us to create Resonate, a tool that listens to conversations and reveals communication patterns so people can improve the way they interact.
What it does
Resonate analyzes conversations and provides insights such as: Speaking distribution in group discussions Frequent interruptions during conversations Participation imbalance between participants Speech pacing and tone patterns
These insights help create more balanced and inclusive communication in meetings, classrooms, and relationships.
How we built it
Our idea was to design a system that can analyze real conversations and convert them into meaningful communication insights.
We designed the product experience and interface using Figma, focusing on clarity and usability so users can easily understand conversation analytics. The concept integrates **AI-powered speech analysis, speaker tracking, and pattern recognition to generate insights about how people communicate.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was simplifying complex communication data into insights that are easy to understand. Conversations involve many variables like speaking time, interruptions, tone, and pacing. Turning these into meaningful and actionable insights required careful thinking about UX design and data visualization.
Another challenge was designing a solution that could work across multiple use cases, including workplace meetings, leadership training, presentations, classrooms, and relationship counseling.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
One of our biggest accomplishments was turning a complex human problem—communication imbalance—into a clear and understandable product idea. Conversations contain many hidden patterns like interruptions, dominant speakers, and silent participants, and we were able to design a system that reveals these insights in a simple way.
We are also proud of successfully designing the user experience and interface for Resonate, making conversation analytics easy to understand through a clean and intuitive UI. Creating a concept that works across multiple scenarios—such as workplace meetings, leadership training, public speaking practice, education discussions, and relationship communication—was another key achievement.
Additionally, completing this project during our first hackathon pushed us to think quickly, collaborate effectively, and transform an idea into a working concept within a limited time. It helped us learn how to approach real-world problems and design meaningful AI-powered solutions.
What we learned
Through this hackathon, we learned how important communication awareness is. Small patterns—like interrupting frequently or dominating conversations—can significantly impact collaboration and relationships.
We also learned how to design AI-powered solutions that solve real human problems, while keeping the interface simple and intuitive for users.
Resonate helps people not just talk, but truly understand how conversations happen.
What's next for Resonate
The next step for Resonate is to turn the concept into a New!Click to editfully functional AI-powered communication analysis tool. We plan to develop a working system that can process real conversations from meetings, calls, or discussions and generate meaningful insights in real time.
In the future, we want to add features such as real-time meeting analytics, speaker detection, and AI-generated communication feedback that can help users improve how they speak, listen, and collaborate.
We also plan to integrate Resonate with popular collaboration platforms like video conferencing and meeting tools, allowing teams to analyze their conversations directly after meetings. This could help organizations build more balanced discussions, better leadership communication, and healthier team dynamics.
Another direction is expanding the product for education and relationship communication, where teachers, students, and couples can better understand communication patterns and improve their interactions.
Ultimately, our vision is for Resonate to become a communication intelligence platform that helps people become more aware of how conversations happen and how they can communicate more effectively.
