Inspiration
Music has always been a huge part of our lives, but we never had a space where we could truly connect with others about it in real time. That’s what inspired us to create this app: to build a community where music lovers can gather and share their thoughts instantly.
What it does
Resonance is an app that brings music lovers together in real time, allowing them to dive deeper into the tracks they love. The app leverages the power of AI to spark meaningful discussions and uses the Spotify API for seamless music discovery. Instant song recognition helps users instantly join discussions around any song they hear.
How we built it
We started by focusing on the frontend, using Next.js to create a smooth and responsive interface. Then focused on the backend using python, which communicates with the Spotify API to fetch song details, to provide song recognition. AI powered prompts are integrated to help guide and spark conversations. We worked to make sure the app offers real time interactions by connecting the frontend and backend effectively.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was ensuring the backend and frontend worked seamlessly. Another difficulty was pulling the correct album artwork consistently, which required additional API management. We also faced some hurdles in generating engaging AI prompts that felt natural for users.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of how quickly we were able to integrate Spotify for music discovery and recognition. The real time interaction and AI generated prompts are also key accomplishments, as they add unique, dynamic value to the user experience.
What we learned
We learned a lot about API integration, real time communication, and AI prompt generation. More than just technical knowledge, we learned the importance of user engagement and how to create a space where people can connect over their shared love for music.
What's next for Resonance
Next, we plan to improve the AI’s ability to generate even more personalized and relevant discussion prompts. We’ll also work on expanding the music libraries and increasing the app’s scalability to accommodate more users. We're excited to keep evolving and making Resonance the go-to app for music lovers to connect in real time.
