Project Story
Inspiration
Our team was driven by a shared passion for creating an eco-friendly environment that seamlessly integrates into daily life. We believe that sustainable practices should not be burdensome or inconvenient, but rather a natural part of our routines. This belief inspired us to develop a project that encourages sustainable habits in a user-friendly and engaging way. Our goal was to design a solution that would not only address environmental concerns but also promote a positive behavioral change that could easily fit into anyone's lifestyle.
What we learned
Participating in this Designathon was an incredible learning experience for all of us. As a team, we honed our collaboration and communication skills, working closely together to brainstorm, research, and develop our concept. Despite the pressure of a 24-hour time limit, we learned how to efficiently divide tasks, manage our time, and support each other through every step of the project. We also learned the importance of clear and effective communication, both within our team and with external stakeholders, to ensure that our vision and ideas were fully understood and implemented.
How we built it
Our project development process was structured and methodical, beginning with extensive background research to identify key environmental challenges and user behaviors. This was followed by secondary research to explore existing solutions and understand their strengths and limitations. Armed with these insights, we formulated a clear problem statement: How might we integrate sustainable practices into daily life in a way that is convenient and enjoyable?
Based on this problem statement, we moved on to sketching initial ideas and concepts. These sketches were refined into low-fidelity prototypes, which we tested with users to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement. After incorporating the feedback, we developed high-fidelity prototypes that more accurately represented our final vision. This iterative process of user testing and refinement was crucial in shaping a solution that was not only effective but also user-friendly and engaging.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge we faced was the time limitation. With only 24 hours to complete the project, we had to be extremely focused and efficient. There was simply not enough time to cover all aspects of the project in detail, so we had to prioritize and make quick decisions on what to include. Additionally, this was the first time participating in a Designathon for all of us, so we were navigating unfamiliar territory without any prior experience. This lack of experience added an extra layer of difficulty as we had to learn on the go, often relying on intuition and teamwork to overcome obstacles.
Despite these challenges, we are proud of what we accomplished in such a short time. Our project not only reflects our commitment to environmental sustainability but also showcases our ability to collaborate, innovate, and deliver a meaningful solution under pressure.
