Inspiration
ResiSync was inspired by a very real and common problem faced by digital nomads and remote workers: accidentally breaking visa or tax rules without realizing it. Many globally mobile professionals rely on spreadsheets, calendar reminders, or rough estimates to track rules like the Schengen 90/180 limit or the 183-day tax residency threshold. These systems are fragile and stressful, and a single miscalculation can result in fines, tax exposure, or long-term travel bans. We wanted to build something that replaces anxiety and guesswork with clarity and foresight.
What it does
ResiSync is an AI-powered compliance command center for borderless living. It visualizes a user’s legal travel status through a real-time “Freedom Meter,” tracks visa and tax residency thresholds, and predicts future compliance risks before they occur. Users can add real or hypothetical trips, simulate different travel scenarios, and receive clear, actionable recommendations to stay compliant while traveling freely.
How we built it
We built ResiSync as a client-first dashboard that allows users to input travel history and future plans in natural language. The system continuously evaluates day-count rules and compliance thresholds, while an AI reasoning layer analyzes the user’s profile and itinerary to generate personalized guidance. Interactive maps, timelines, and visual indicators translate complex legal logic into an intuitive experience designed for fast understanding and confident decision-making.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was balancing accuracy with usability. Immigration and tax rules are complex, country-specific, and constantly changing, so we focused on modeling the most impactful rules while clearly communicating risk instead of legal advice. Another challenge was designing a demo that felt realistic and trustworthy without overcomplicating the system, especially under hackathon time constraints.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud that ResiSync transforms abstract legal rules into a visual, predictive experience that anyone can understand. The simulation mode, real-time risk indicators, and strategic recommendations together create a product that feels genuinely useful, not just experimental. Most importantly, the app clearly demonstrates how AI can proactively prevent problems instead of reacting after damage is done.
What we learned
We learned that AI delivers the most value when it reduces cognitive load rather than adding complexity. Translating legal and compliance logic into simple visual signals was far more impactful than exposing raw data. We also learned the importance of scoping: focusing on a clear, high-risk problem made it possible to build something polished and meaningful within a short time.
What's next for ResiSync
Next, we plan to expand coverage to more countries and compliance scenarios, integrate email and calendar syncing for automatic trip detection, and add proactive notifications so users are warned before risks emerge. Long-term, ResiSync aims to become a trusted global mobility companion for anyone living and working across borders.
