Inspiration

Most of our team are Computer/Electrical Engineering students, and during their lab courses found that the most tedious part of circuit labs was identifying resistors and resistances. This tool aims to make it simpler and quicker so we can get our labs done on time.

What it does

Calculates the resistance of a resistor and allows you to change the band colour so that it is easy and quick to identify

How I built it

Built using JavaScript and HTML

Challenges I ran into

Our team is only familiar with C, C++ and Python. It was a challenge to learn new technologies to try and create this app, originally we tried to create this using Python and Flask but that proved challenging. Finally, we made the shift to HTML and javascript.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Despite our lack of knowledge in the technologies used and the issues we faced, the tool works as intended.

What I learned

Learned new technologies including Flask, HTML and Javascript

What's next for Resistor Calculator

Make the program more robust, include other components for circuit labs, more resistance bands.
