Road TRANSPORT-related problems we want to solve

  • Efficient Collaborative Transport Network creation and management

  • Production and service delivery shifting

  • Value Chain re-configuration

  • Protection of drivers agains contagion

  • Support for drivers on the road

  • Transport Visibility

  • Smart City support

At City, Region, Country and European level, massive scale and lightning speed.

How do we solve them?

With minor adaptations to an existing solution to urban goods delivery congestion, emissions and cost challenges.

The solution is ubiquitous, safe, resilient against cyber attacks and hyper-scalable.

How we built it?

Developed with Open Standards following state-of-the-art Infrastructure as Code, Programming and DevOps practices.

Accessible through a best-practice developed RESTful Architecture Web API with robust enterprise-grade authentication and fine-grain authorization mechanisms.

.NET back-end, MS-SQL-as-a-service database in Azure..NET Core Optimisation Engines implemented on Debian virtual machines that run in Azure or Amazon Web Services Clouds.

Validated as line-of-business application by Microsoft and Honeywell. Scalability certified in Azure.

Drivers support App is developed in native Android. Limits the ability to use the smartphone camera, take screenshots etc. and ensures deletion of all pick-up or delivery data once the service ends, for security purposes. All information is securely transmitted to the .NET back-end.

Challenges we run into

The Solution is well proven in urban and mid-range transportation. From the end of 2018, during the front-end development time, we were invited and joined some H2020 Research & Innovation consortiums. Commercially launched in November 2019, we were implementing it directly in a major HORECA Wholesaler, and co-selling with Microsoft to a major Retailer just before covid-19 outbreak.

We spent the week-end stretch-testing the Solution to validate its ability to deliver in long-haul transport within the EU. We've tested routes from Cape North to Algeciras (5.516 km.) and Bucharest to Lisbon (3.900 km.), even if at EU Member State level most of the goods are carried over distances between 300 and 999 kilometres.

We developed two complete use-cases, specified the data models, made some code-tweaking and run few trials.

Impact to the crisis

  • Up to 30% of congestion and emissions reduction in Capillary Distribution, Urban Freight and the Last Mile in cities.

  • Up to 20% vehicle distance traveled reduction travelled kilometres and driving time in mid-range trips (up to 400 kilometres).

  • We can confidently say that the potential efficiency gains in long-haul transport are even higher in all dimensions: capacity utilisation, driving time, agility and visibility.

Necessities in order to continue the project

We believe we could do a relatively low-scale first implementation at Urban or mid-range level in Spain in seven working days. Before or while starting we will need to recruit or contract between six to eight high-level professionals to join us and become the Team to spearhead following implementation, and engage a specialised company to document the implementation processes and best practices, and translate the user interface to EU Member States languages.

The value of the Solution after the crisis

Will the pandemic be a once-in-a-generation chance to remake society and build a better future? Or will only make existing injustices worse?

The Solution is here to stay in both cases.

Unfortunately, the number and needs of vulnerable people will skyrocket. Reducing transport costs will be paramount for Public Administrations, NGOs and non-profit organisations. And the Solution will support their needs. as well as enterprises needs.
