Inspiration

I don't have to worry about losing my house key and the process should prove less of a hassle than manipulating the traditional key and lock mechanism. I also have a bad habit of leaving the lights on. Using motion sensing lights ensures I'm not wasting electricity and money.

What it does

It locks the door of the user as they exit automatically as one turns the door knob to leave the residence. The user would use their smartphone and an application designed by me to vibrate the door in specific pattern to activate a vibrating senor and unlock the door and get back in.

The motion sensing lights work by flicking the wall switches on through a servo motor when the sonar sensor detects distance interrupts.

How I built it

An Arduino 101 was used along with a vibration sensor and motor to manipulate the deadbolt. The on-board motion sensing capabilities of the 101 is how the code knows when the door has been opened and closed. For the motion sensing lights another 101 was used and another servo in addition to a sonar sensor.
