Inspiration

Our inspiration for this project started from recognizing the prominent issues and impact of mental health amongst our generation today. With significant issues in the digital age of social media, climate change, and the ongoing pandemic, many individuals have been suffering in silence, unable to receive any help.

What it does

Thus, Reset was created with the intention of bringing accessible tracking and management of significant factors that contribute to our mental well-being. Being able to track and monitor sleep, physical health, and having a place to document reflections from the day can increase our awareness of what contributing factors may impact our mental health.

How we built it

We used Flask to power our back-end API, postgres for our database server , and React.js for our front-end development. We also used several packages to help create our web app, including Tailwind for CSS, and nivo for our graph visualization. All our initial designs were done in Figma.

Challenges we ran into

With any hackathon, our team was limited in resources and time and some of our initial plans and ideas did not go as expected. Making adjustments accordingly and being able to work together and coordinate and decide on what is worth the time or not was important in the final result of the project.

What we learned

Throughout this process, there was a lot of learning through being constrained to only 36 hours and having limited resources. From the technical side, there was a lot of learning of front-end development, such as React JS, Tailwind CSS, and other applications that were used. Furthermore, we learned that collaboration and asking for help are crucial.

What's next for Reset

For next steps, Reset hopes to include more features that allows the users to track their screen time and social factors. In addition, we hope to add a mobile application in the future to increase convenience and accessibility.
