Inspiration

Research can be overwhelming. We wanted to make it easier to go from a vague question to a full article—faster and smarter. That inspired us to create ResearchTree AI: a platform that generates insightful questions and turns them into well-structured publications. Our goal was to assist students, researchers, and content creators in navigating the chaos of online research using a structured, AI-guided method.

What it does

ResearchTree AI is a smart research assistant that helps you:

Enter a research topic

Automatically generate related, practical questions

Build a multi-level research tree

Get comprehensive, contextual answers

Convert research into full-length blogs or reports

Export content in multiple formats like HTML or Markdown

How we built it

We used the Perplexity AI Sonar API for question and answer generation. The frontend is built using modern web technologies with responsive components. The platform uses a hierarchical structure to organize questions from broad to deep-dive levels, with features such as:

Color-coded level badges

Collapsible trees

Progress trackers We implemented a blog generation feature that formats selected questions and answers into publication-ready Markdown content.

Challenges we ran into

Designing a flexible but intuitive tree structure for questions

Maintaining answer accuracy across diverse topics

Ensuring smooth UI performance with large research trees

Handling slow or failed API responses gracefully

Providing rich blog formatting while maintaining user control

Accomplishments that we're proud of Seamless research flow: from query to blog in minutes

Accurate, well-structured answers with contextual depth

Easy export features (copy, text file, HTML)

Robust UI with autosave, progress tracking, and organization tools
