Inspiration
My Humanities class is writing a research paper. Being a CS major I decided to use IEEE format, but couldn't find any good sites that explain how to create an IEEE style paper.
What it does
It shows the most important parts of the IEEE format. It also features parallax scrolling and text that fades in and out with the page scrolling.
How I built it
I used mostly HTML and CSS. I used java script for the scripting and jquery for the fade effects.
Challenges I ran into
Writing a script to get the position of the page was kinda confusing since there were so many different ways to do it online.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The parallax scrolling works! I have never used HTML, CSS, Javascript, or jquery so designing a good looking site with some decorative functionality was pretty satisfying. I really like how the text fade works.
What I learned
Next time I am doing a Java or Python program. I think JS is a useful language but I didn't really personally enjoy designing websites as much as writing object-oriented applications.
What's next for researchpaper.design
I am going to add APA, MLA, and Chicago guideline pages and create a homepage that links to the four styles.
