Our inspiration for this project is to provide underrepresented and resource-limited students with the opportunity to learn and engage in research projects, particularly in the sciences, for free. We aim to support students with limited resources in discovering and pursuing their career paths early on.
Our website serves as a platform to assist underrepresented and resource-limited students in finding their interests and exploring them through research projects. It simplifies access to information across various majors, categories, and careers, making it easier for students to learn and grow.
We created our website using Wix, dedicating many hours to ensure it is accessible, user-friendly, educational, and beneficial. We incorporated essential sections, search bars, and a mentorship feature to connect students with online mentors specializing in specific topics. We hope to connect undergraduate students, graduate students, and researchers as volunteers with aspiring high school students through a forum on the website.
We encountered several challenges during this project. Initially, it took time to brainstorm an idea that would effectively address the prompt, ultimately deciding on creating a website. Building the website for the first time presented difficulties in organization to ensure ease of use. Additionally, gathering links to articles, resources, and YouTube videos on specific topics was time-consuming due to the abundance of available resources. The entire process required significant effort and time to bring the website together.
We are proud to be the co-founders of this website. Another significant achievement is curating a collection of knowledge and articles that others can easily access. We take pride in our ability to assist students like ourselves.
We learned that helping others is both a challenging and rewarding experience. The hard work involved in this project was demanding, but it was also enlightening as we gained deeper insights into various topics through our research. This endeavor broadened our knowledge and exposed us to information that we might not have discovered otherwise.
Our next steps include completing the website, inviting college students and graduates to serve as mentors, and promoting the platform to students and schools. We will also add a page to recruit volunteer mentors.
