What it does

RescueRelay is a two-sided coordination workspace for time-sensitive surplus food. A donor or browser agent records one structured offer, checks it against three New York City nonprofit profiles, and prepares a reviewable handoff. Live IRS-derived organization and filing records come from ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer, while sourced food-intake guidance explains every eligibility result.

Agents can prepare work, but they cannot cross the consequential boundaries: only a visible donor control can send the simulated handoff, and only a visible recipient control can confirm the response.

Why WebMCP

RescueRelay exposes five narrow, schema-defined WebMCP tools: create_surplus_offer, find_eligible_partners, prepare_reservation, get_pending_offer, and prepare_response. They let a compatible browser agent structure facts, run deterministic checks, retrieve the current handoff, and prepare the next safe action without guessing how to operate the page.

The human UI and WebMCP handlers share one typed action contract. Sending and final confirmation are deliberately absent from the tool surface.

Live data and transparency

The app fetches current legal identity and filing records for three allowlisted organizations from ProPublica's IRS-derived Nonprofit Explorer API. Published food-intake guidance is mapped into deterministic, reason-coded pilot rules. The UI distinguishes live records, sourced policy mappings, donor-declared facts, and simulated state.

Limitations

The handoff is simulated and no charity is contacted. Live public records do not represent current food demand or capacity. The public demo uses browser-local workflow state; Convex is included as the path to shared realtime persistence.
