Global disasters have always been serious threats and challenges to all living creatures on our planet. We feel the urge to put our capabilities to help everyone in the world from potential dangers.
What it does
Our AI system informs people of ways to better prepare and recover before, during and after natural disasters. The Admin system allows the government to quickly communicate with local organizations to provide resources to people in need immediately. Our AI chatbot provides seamlessly accurate solution response to people's questions and needs, minimizes the organization staffing shortage.
How we built it
We brainstormed all potential issues, possible solutions to those issues and collaborated to create a design that would endure. We assigned tasks to each team member, efficiently creating a facebook chatbot and hosting it on a dynamic web app that has a user-friendly interface.
Challenges we ran into
Understanding the IBM cloud compute service. We had issues with deploying the node.js application on IBM. Another challenge was to understand about IBM Watson and its possible integration to the bot.
In DocuSign, We ran into multiple challenges, which were mainly focused on understanding the API architecture and the process by which DocuSign works. The concept is interesting and seems very straightforward to use but we first needed to understand the technical flow behind the screen. Since we never worked on digital signing documents but were familiar with the concept of signing the Git commit we had initial impression that we would need cryptic knowledge of it. But with the help of DocuSign mentors, Video Demos, and their open source sample applications, we finally were able to understand the flow and implemented it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to understand the concept of IBM cloud, tooling and how to deploy our node.js application in IBM cloud. Also, the experience of using DocuSign was very interesting for us as we were able to smooth the process and simplify the contract process.
What we learned
We learned to use IBM Compute, DocuSign API and a lot of new technologies. We achieved our goal of connecting people who are stuck, due to disasters. We learned how to use the technology that can bridge the gap to improve what we need.
What's next for Rescue-Bot
We are going to implement emergency alert notifications, broadcasting alert messages and hardware support to build better connections between people and communities.
