Inspiration

  1. Passion for sustainability and environmental conservation.
  2. Interest in food systems and their social, economic, and environmental implications.
  3. Desire to contribute to creating a more equitable and efficient food system

What it does

  1. User Profiles:
    Two types of profiles:

    • Food Donors: Households, grocery stores, restaurants, or bakeries who can list surplus food.
    • Food Seekers: Individuals, charities, or community centers looking for food donations.
  2. Real-time Listings:
A map or list-based view that shows surplus food items available in the nearby vicinity. Users can filter by food type, location, and expiration time.

  3. Pickup or Delivery Options:
The app could allow food seekers to either pick up the food themselves or coordinate delivery with volunteers.

  4. Expiry & Quality Control:
A system to monitor and categorize food based on expiration dates, ensuring that only fresh, safe food is shared.

  5. Impact Tracking:
The app can track metrics such as the amount of food recovered, meals served, and environmental impact (e.g., CO2 emissions saved by reducing waste).

  6. Notifications & Alerts:
Real-time notifications for nearby food availability or when a specific type of food becomes available.
