Inspiration
My motivation to create this project was sparked by the real-life experiences of my friends, who faced harassment in their daily lives but didn't know how to report or seek help.
What it does
ReportHER - Your Digital Ally" is a pioneering web and mobile application designed to empower individuals to raise their voices and ensure safety in an increasingly interconnected world. This innovative platform allows users to report incidents related to women's safety, fostering a community where concerns are heard, acknowledged, and addressed.
With ReportHER, users can confidentially report various types of incidents, from harassment and discrimination to unsafe situations, all while preserving their anonymity if they choose. Our user-friendly interface facilitates a seamless reporting process, capturing essential details such as location and timestamp, and even allows for multimedia evidence submission.
The app takes transparency and accountability seriously. It streamlines the process of forwarding complaints to relevant college officials or law enforcement, ensuring that incidents are dealt with promptly and efficiently. Users are kept informed throughout, receiving updates on the status of their reports.
Beyond reporting, ReportHER serves as a comprehensive resource hub, offering emergency contacts, support services, and educational materials to empower users with knowledge and assistance. It's more than just an app; it's a supportive community where users can share experiences, advice, and support one another.
How we built it
The development journey of "ReportHER - Your Digital Ally" was a collaborative effort that involved careful planning, design, and the dedicated work of a skilled team.
- The project began with a clear vision to create a platform that empowers individuals to report incidents related to women's safety, while also fostering a supportive community and providing educational resources.
-A detailed project plan was created, outlining the scope, objectives, and features of the application. The team gathered requirements through surveys, focus groups, and discussions with potential users to ensure the app met their needs.
-User experience (UX) and user interface (UI) designers worked closely to create an intuitive and aesthetically pleasing interface. Wireframes and mockups were developed to visualize the app's layout and functionality.
-Developers began coding the application, building the backend infrastructure, database, and frontend components. Security measures were implemented to protect user data and privacy. The reporting system, community forum, and resource database were developed in parallel.
-The application was deployed on reliable servers, ensuring it could handle the expected user load.
