Inspiration

We noticed the common frustration of needing premium digital tools like Adobe Photoshop or AI software for short-term use, but being forced to pay high subscription fees. This led us to create a smarter, more affordable way to access these tools temporarily.

What it does

Rentify connects people who aren’t actively using their premium software accounts with those who need short-term access. It allows account owners to rent out their unused subscription time and lets users access high-end tools at a fraction of the cost.

How we built it

Rentify was developed with modern web technologies, incorporating secure credential handling, a user-friendly streaming-style interface, and backend systems with strong security practices like end-to-end encryption, MFA, and secure tokenized payments.

Challenges we ran into

Building trust and ensuring security in account sharing was a major challenge. We had to design robust systems for credential management, enforce usage terms, and create seamless transitions between account owners and renters.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of building a platform that not only makes premium tools accessible and affordable but also combats digital piracy by offering a legal, secure alternative. Our innovative approach to account time-sharing creates value for both owners and renters.

What we learned

We learned that solving a real-world problem requires balancing user experience with security, and that building trust is just as important as building features. We also gained experience in secure web development and real-time access control.

What's next for Rentify

Next, we plan to scale our platform, onboard more categories of digital tools, integrate user reputation systems, and partner with software companies to offer built-in Rentify support. Our goal is to become the go-to marketplace for secure digital rentals.
