Inspiration
The inspiration for this project comes from the huge amounts of Carbon Footprints we produce on a daily basis and the cycles and skateboards I have lying at my house which is in perfect working condition but they are just lying and accumulating dust.
What it does
Renter is a platform that lets people rent their unused bikes, penny boards, skateboards and Rollerblades for people to use. This encourages people to choose eco-friendly methods of travel as compared to taking a Uber. This helps in reducing the overall carbon footprint while giving people an incentive to rent.
Renter helps in improving city architecture as compared to the unused and uncomfortable publically available bikes which just accumulate rust
How we built it
It is built using React, HTML, CSS and JavaScript on the front-end with React Leaflet for the map and MySQL as a database to store the data
Challenges we ran into
Lack of time so wasn't able to add all features which I had planned
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to complete the whole project on my own in less than 24 hours
What we learned
Time Management, Designing, Problem Solving and application of React using interactive maps
What's next for Renter
The Future Prospects of Renter are:
- Adding Crypto wallet authentication to provide tokens for going eco-friendly
- Gamify the Platform
- Incentives programs for Riders and Renters
