Inspiration
Rent.It is inspired by a common problem we all face — we buy items like cameras, tools, speakers, or event equipment but use them only a few times. Meanwhile, many people (especially students) can’t afford to buy these items and only need them temporarily. To solve this, Rent.It creates a safe, trusted platform where people can rent what they need and earn from what they already own or just help others marking it free. It promotes affordability, convenience, and sustainability through the sharing economy.
What it does
RentIt is a peer-to-peer rental platform where people can rent anything they need and earn money by renting out items they already own. Users can browse items nearby, check availability, book securely, sign a digital rental agreement, and return the item with trust and safety features like ID verification, deposits, ratings, and damage checks.
How we built it
We built RentIt using Base44 for the entire UI and app screens, and connected it with n8n workflows to handle the backend. Base44 manages the pages, forms, listings, and user interface, while n8n automates tasks like notifications, feedback form. This combination made it possible to build a smooth, fast, and fully functional rental platform without code.
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges in organizing a smooth rental flow—especially managing item availability, user verification, and secure bookings without writing code. Connecting Base44 with n8n automation also required testing multiple workflows to avoid errors. Another challenge was designing a clean UI that works well on mobile while keeping the experience simple for new users.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully built a fully working rental platform using Base44 and automated the backend with n8n — without writing code. We’re proud of creating a smooth booking flow, integrating verification and agreements, and designing a clean, user-friendly interface. Most importantly, we turned a real-life problem into a functional, simple, and impactful solution.
What we learned
We learned how to build a complete app using no-code tools like Base44, how to automate real workflows, and how important clean UI and user experience are. We also understood how to validate an idea, design around real problems, and turn a concept into a working product quickly.
What's next for Rent.It
Next, we plan to add secure online payments, real-time chat between renters and owners, and a rating system to build trust. We also aim to launch city-wise communities, introduce AI-based damage checks, and expand categories so users can rent anything with complete safety and convenience.
