Inspiration

In the context of art, NFTs provide a unique proof of ownership of the artwork by the artist. Although countless NFT artworks are being bought and sold, there’s been less coverage of exhibitions for those looking for a centralized location to just enjoy and consume the media. There is currently no standard on how NFT video art should be exhibited digitally, so we created Renoir.

What it does

It uploads and retrieves video NFTs to and from the Eluvio APIs to display it on a web based gallery.

How we built it

We referenced their streamer code and upload code to implement the information sourced from the APIs. We also customized the look of the streamer and changed the GUI.

Challenges we ran into

We went into this project hungry to learn all about NFTs and Eluvio's Content Fabric API's. We struggled with the implementation of sourcing the uploaded videos on the content fabric, as Eluvio's client APIs were brand new to us. But we eventually were successful in both uploading and sourcing video NFTs from the APIs.

What we learned

It was only through the implementation of the Eluvio APIs, where we began to understand the methods of extracting the necessary information for its implementation. Thus, we learned various approaches to mastering new APIs, rather than just working with them at a high level.

What's next for Renoir

We hope to fully develop a platform for video NFTs that offer the possibility of inviting collaborations and exhibitions across multiple mediums of art. Our main goal is to redefine the "fixed" and "physical" interpretation of art.
