Inspiration
The inspiration for Renal AI came from observing how overwhelming everyday health decisions can be for individuals managing kidney related conditions. Many people are not critically ill, yet they constantly worry about whether their daily choices such as what to eat, how much to rest, or how active to be might negatively affect their health. This constant uncertainty creates mental stress and confusion. Renal AI was created to ease that burden by offering calm, supportive guidance rather than strict medical rules, helping users feel more confident and informed in their daily routines.
What It Does
Renal AI is a lightweight wellness assistant designed to help users plan a simple 3-day healing routine focused on diet, rest, and physical activity. Instead of overwhelming users with medical jargon or complex data, the platform provides gentle, practical recommendations tailored to different health states. Users can explore meal suggestions, light activity routines, and rest guidance through a clean and calming interface designed for everyday usability.
How We Built It
The application was developed as a frontend-focused web solution with an emphasis on simplicity and accessibility and workflow automation using n8n. A rule-based logic system was implemented to simulate intelligent decision-making without relying on heavy backend infrastructure or complex machine learning models. This allowed us to focus on user experience, clarity, and responsiveness. The interface guides users step by step through their wellness journey, ensuring interactions feel natural, supportive, and non intimidating.
Challenges I Faced
One of the biggest challenges was striking the right balance between being informative and being overwhelming. Health-related platforms often risk sounding too technical or clinical, which can discourage users. I also had to ensure that the application did not cross into providing medical advice, while still offering meaningful and helpful guidance. Designing content that felt empathetic, safe, and responsible required careful wording and thoughtful UX decisions.

What I Learned
This project taught us that impactful digital health solutions don’t need to be complex. Thoughtful design, clear communication, and emotional sensitivity can significantly improve user trust and engagement. I also learnt the importance of empathy driven design when building tools for people managing long-term health conditions.
What’s Next for Renal AI
Looking ahead, I plan to expand Renal AI with optional personalization features, real-time food availability insights, and deeper recommendations based on user preferences. Our long term vision is to evolve Renal AI into a trusted digital companion that supports healthier daily decisions without pressure or fear.
