Inspiration
As many as 43.5 million Americans may have dyslexia. Dyslexia occurs among people of all economic and ethnic backgrounds. During these times of distanced and online learning, students who require special attention with speech and reading will be able to develop those skills through our application
What it does
Remus is an app that can help kids with dyslexia. Kids can speak into their phones to read sentences from children's books, and the app will detect if they said words correctly. If any words were pronounced wrong, the incorrect word will be detected. The app will then have kids practice pronouncing the words correctly. With its gamified aspects, Remus can help kids work on their speech and reading.
How I built it
We used Golang to connect to Google Cloud API and perform live speech recognition. We were also working on using React JS to build the front-end of our app.
Challenges I ran into
With the time crunch, it was difficult to create a product that we wanted to create initially.
