Due to the COVID-19, remote work has become the new norm of working all around the globe – all over Europe. We have a new type of remote worker – The Local Remote Worker which is not used to working this way.
A survey has shown that over 50% of new remote workers experience loneliness, anxiety, and loss of productivity due to isolation. From historical research, we already know that one-fifth of remote workers report that loneliness is a key struggle. We also see that discussions about loneliness and detachment from the organization are popping up all around in the media.
Loneliness and detachment hamper the physical and mental health of the remote workers also causing a loss in business productivity and profitability.
As human beings, we need social connection and trust to work better, engage, and be happy.
What it does and the impact on the Covid-19 crisis
RemoteTrust is a web community platform that connects people through different types of online social activities such as contests, video meetings, and discussion forums. RemoteTrust creates the social space online that the new remote worker is now missing due to the physical separation from the office.
The product gives concrete advantages for managers working with remote employees, so they stay devoted with passion for their tasks as well as for their crafts and for their knowledge, and for the employee, it means maintaining a happy and healthy work-life.
RemoteTrust is a standalone software solution that can be brought to market fast and have an impact on the current crisis addressing the struggles of the new remote workers.
What have we done during the weekend
We started from scratch with ideation and we have worked on the product scope, video presentation, landing page, business plan, product pipeline, and it is now ready to be handover to the operational team in our non-profit organization.
The resources we are looking for to continue
To continue the project we need to go into the next phase of the product development which includes:
1. Connecting with key partners for software development and prototype testing;
2. Market research for product-market validation and creating a Go-to-Market strategy;
3. Partnering with local vendors;
4. Capital to invest in software development and Go-to-Market acceleration.
What's next for RemoteTrust after the crisis
Remote working has been a growing trend even before the Covid-19 crisis and is definitely here to stay. There are various challenges for different remote workers. Experienced remote workers are often geographical highly dispersed and work across different types of cultures which are not necessarily the traits of a new local remote worker due to the current crisis.
The vision for RemoteTrust is to address the social challenges that the experienced remote workers have and thereby add to the advantages which remote working provides.
Additionally, we are going to work extremely hard to ensure that RemoteTrust is a product that lives up to the UN’s 17 SDGs and the triple bottom line. There will be a lot of work for us to ensure that we create the right partnership and local vendors to ensure the sustainability of our product.
With RemoteTrust we aim to support goal 3; Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, goal 8; Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all and goal 17; Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
