I want to quickly launch a project for remote tourism. The idea is simply to have people go around a tourist location or a museum following in real time the commands from the tourists-customers, stream their tour with a smartphone or a GoPro, go inside a shop and ask whatever to the shopkeeper, etc.

Here is a similar existing example: link

The project has yet to start. The idea is to start with a totally basic solution, and see from the beginning if there is interest. So the plan is sort of this:

  • Define the technical solution (smartphone, GoPro, streaming platform, etc.)
  • Define the initial terms of the service
  • Identify the money required (preferably none) and where to get it
  • Design and develop a very basic website with a PayPal button
  • Find a location, and make agreements with eventual owners
  • Find the person who will actually do the guided tour
  • Launch!

In this moment as the Covid is totally killing tourism and museums are empty, this kind of remote tourism should be much appreciated.

As for the kind of teammates I'm looking for, anyone is welcome, in this moment it would be good to have someone who can set up the website.

Here's the first update: at least in the initial phase, we'll simply use a smartphone instead of a GoPro. This will make the video stream more stable, ensure that the Local Guide can see what is in the field of view of the video stream, and simplify the whole process.
