We propose a fundscope that utilizes a smartphone to capture images and send them to ophthalmologists. The device uses a trans-pars-planar illumination scheme that separates the illumination and imaging pathways to maximize field of view. The device can be used independently by a patient and does not require the use of pupil-dilating eye drops.
