What inspires us
Online classrooms are hard. Teachers don't know what to do, students are confused and the technology is overwhelming. We create a tool that provides all the important features in a simple UI. Additionally, we allow students to work in small groups while the teacher still has oversight and can help students in need. We were inspired by our own experience as students during the crisis as well also by the experiences our siblings made in school.
What we have learned
Working with video technology is challenging, especially when it should be live. We learned a lot about javascript and WebRTC. Developing a product in a distributed environment creates a lot of complexities, which are simpler if you can meet in person to work.
How we built it
We started by trying to figure out what we miss in our current learning process. We all agreed, that we learn a lot by working with peers. Also, communication with other pupils essential for your well being and happiness. However, there currently is no product that encourages this. So we set out by defining our target users. We identified the need from a primary school to university level. Afterward, we created a story map codifying or users' needs, and which are the most important things to implement. We proceeded to create a prototype web application with Vue.js and WebRtc.
