Inspiration
What is worse than burnt toast? Toaster manufacturers have been making poorly designed toasters for years with dials that have meaningless numbers on them. One is lead to believe these numbers represent time to toast, but this simply isn't true. The Toast-o-Matic solves all those problems.
What it does
The Toast-o-Matic is an Arduino controlled timer circuit that can turn a relay on and off to control the precise amount of time food remains in the toaster. It can be controlled by both the on board buttons as well as an IR remote.
How we built it
The brains of the operation is an Arduino Uno with a 16x2 LCD display to give the status of your food as well as change the time your food is cooking for. An IR receiver captures signals from the remote which are interpreted by the Arduino
Challenges we ran into
-Countdown timer and negative times -IR Receiver to execute commands -Not having a toaster (Represented by a red LED)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully made an Arduino product that functions exactly as we wished. It is an amazing experience to make a product come to life
What we learned
On Saturday, we knew nothing about Arduino, but now we have a basic understanding of Arduino programing.
What's next for Remote Controlled Toaster Timer
-Pair it with a toaster -Larger Relay to handle current of Toaster -3D printed enclosure
