Remora

Inspiration

Remora is a kind of fishes which spend most of their lives clinging to a host animal such as a whale, turtle, shark or ray. They remove ectoparasites for the host in order to receive their protection.

This story inspires our team to apply in the modern art industry. Nowadays, one product could be modularized and included in another bigger projects. This win-win relationship should be empowered by Blockchain technology where all contributors could be transparently paid for their influence.

What it does

Our user could create a picture such as an element, a GIF, a template, etc. They can let another user use their pictures, by including their pictures into his/her product. We call them as the S-NFT creators. The users who include elements, called as C-NFT creators. When a C-NFT is bought, the creators of S-NFTs included inside this C-NFT should be paid an amount of money.

How we built it

The Remora is a Web based application. Except from using Solidity for smart contracts, our whole project only uses Javascript as dominant programming language for both front-end and back-end.

Challenges we ran into

In the first plan, we would like to let user sell their C-NFT on some available marketplaces such as OpenSea, SeaSol, etc. However, we cannot step in between the smart contracts of the users and the marketplace to force the money amount is splitted for the creators of S-NFT. Therefore, we need to create the marketplace by ourselves.

Timing is the most challenge for our team. We're fulltime working and come from different countries with different timezone. Therefore, we only have very limited time to accomplish this idea.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

All members in our team never work on any project related to Blockchain technology. Moreover, as we mentioned above, we have the limited time bucket to finish this idea. However, at the moment, we have a PoC (Prove Of Concept) to submit for this challenge. We're so proud of that, and keep trying our best to further complete this idea in the furture.

What we learned

We gained many knowledge about smart contracts and the process to deploy them on chain as well.

What's next for Remora

This is the very first time for our team to work on a project in Blockchain technology. We aware that there are many things needs to improve and evolve, therefore, more than the prizes, your feedback and the community is our actual target. In the next step, based on this idea, we continue generating more user stories to make the Remora fullfills more requirements. Moreover, we will introduce the Remora among the community with the aim of receiving more feedback and attention.
