Inspiration
Digital payments have become part of everyday life, but understanding their true cost is often surprisingly difficult.
While watching videos and reading discussions online, I noticed a common frustration: users were often surprised when the final amount charged was higher than expected. Many believed they were being charged unfairly, only to discover that information about fees and currency conversion costs existed on separate pricing pages that most users never read.
This raised a simple question:
Why should users have to dig through lengthy documentation just to understand what they're paying?
That question inspired me to build RemitSense AI.
What it does
RemitSense AI helps users understand the actual cost of a transaction before completing it.
The platform:
- Analyzes transaction details
- Estimates applicable fees and conversion costs
- Highlights additional charges that may affect the final amount
- Explains costs in simple, human-friendly language
Instead of making users search through pricing documents, RemitSense AI brings transparency directly to the payment process.
How I built it
I built RemitSense AI as an AI-powered web platform focused on financial transparency.
The system:
- Collects transaction details such as amount, currency, destination, and payment method.
- Processes applicable fee structures and conversion costs.
- Uses AI to generate easy-to-understand explanations.
- Presents a clear breakdown of the expected final amount.
My goal was not just accuracy, but also simplicity and trust.
Challenges I ran into
Some of the challenges I faced included:
- Understanding different fee structures across payment services
- Handling varying transaction conditions across currencies and regions
- Presenting financial information without overwhelming users
- Balancing transparency with a clean user experience
Building something both informative and easy to understand required multiple iterations.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
