Inspiration

The transformation of my hometown and the fading of childhood memories. By contrasting scenes from ten years ago and now, it showcases the losses and continuities within development, as well as the enduring nature of family bonds across time.

What it does

Using AI to generate a short film, combining visuals and voiceover to narrate the emotional connection between an individual, their hometown, and their family, presenting reflections and changes experienced while growing up.

How we built it

Starting from recollections of childhood scenes, I collected old photos and family stories, wrote the narrative script, and used AI tools to generate visual and audio content, gradually building the complete short film.

Challenges we ran into

Balancing genuine emotion with the expression of AI technology, avoiding excessive sentimentality or a mechanical feel; integrating materials within a limited time frame to ensure a natural flow between visuals and dialogue.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Evoking audience resonance about hometown and family love through a personal story, and successfully translating abstract emotions into concrete audiovisual language.

What we learned

Technology is a tool, but genuine emotion is the soul of creation. Hometowns change, but the memories and love rooted in our bloodline never disappear.
