Inspiration

Modern professionals and power users don't suffer from a lack of things to do; they suffer from the friction of capturing and acting on thoughts. Traditional task managers force users through cumbersome date-pickers, nested menus, and rigid taxonomies. Worse, once a reminder triggers, users usually have to leave the app to locate an associated email template, meeting link, or draft.

We built ReminderSync AI to bridge the gap between thought and execution: a lightning-fast natural language engine that pairs automated scheduling with instant, 1-tap reusable Action Snippets.

What it does

ReminderSync AI turns messy, disorganized thoughts into structured actions in seconds:

  • ⚡ AI Natural Language Brain Dump: Powered by Microsoft Foundry's gpt-5.4-nano, users type or dictate raw thoughts (e.g., "Send updated pitch deck to Michael this Friday at 3:30 PM with Zoom link"). The engine extracts the task title, timestamp, and context instantly.
  • 📋 1-Tap Action Snippets: Every reminder can store an attached text snippet (email replies, meeting rooms, invoice drafts). When a reminder triggers, tap "Copy" to send the text to the clipboard with haptic feedback without leaving your workflow.
  • 🔄 Conflict-Resilient Offline Sync: Reminders are persisted locally on-device and synchronized with our Azure backend via a last-write-wins timestamp engine.
  • 📊 Timeline Focus Dashboard: Automatically organizes tasks into Today, Upcoming, Recurring, and Completed views with clear visual status tags.
  • 💳 Seamless RevenueCat Monetization: Features a generous free starter tier alongside Pro ($25/mo) and Premium ($35/mo) subscriptions and consumable AI Credit Packs for heavy task-dump sprints.

How we built it

  • Mobile Client (Flutter): Engineered with Material 3 design, Cupertino haptic feedback, local caching with shared_preferences, and responsive cards optimized for single-thumb mobile use.
  • Backend API (Flask on Azure): Hosted on Microsoft Azure App Service (East US) using Python Flask and SQLite with Write-Ahead Logging (WAL) and 30-second busy timeouts to ensure high concurrency.
  • AI Intelligence (Microsoft Foundry): Leveraged gpt-5.4-nano with 24-hour query hash caching for instant, zero-latency natural language extraction.
  • Monetization Engine (RevenueCat): Integrated the latest purchases_flutter SDK (Google Play Billing Library 8.0.0+) supporting multi-tier subscriptions, consumable credit packs, and subscriber attribute syncing.

Challenges we ran into

  • Sub-Second NLP Timestamp Parsing: Designing prompt constraints that reliably parse relative natural dates (e.g., "next Tuesday afternoon") into standardized ISO timestamps across timezones without noticeable client lag.
  • Android Toolchain & Kotlin DSL: Configuring modern Kotlin DSL (build.gradle.kts) with release keystore signing while resolving Windows path toolchain constraints during .aab compilation.
  • Two-Way Sync Conflict Resolution: Implementing a lightweight, robust server merge algorithm so offline edits never overwrite newer cloud updates.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Sub-2-Second Capture Flow: Users can open the app, enter a messy thought, and have a scheduled reminder with an attached snippet in less than two seconds.
  • Flawless RevenueCat Integration: Configured an active premium offering that smoothly handles both recurring plans and one-off credit packs with instant customer entitlement verification.
  • Full Production Pipeline: Shipped an end-to-end cloud-connected app to the Google Play Store within the hackathon window.

What we learned

  • How to leverage RevenueCat's hybrid monetization capabilities to serve both daily subscribers and sporadic credit-pack purchasers within a unified Flutter architecture.
  • How to design high-density productivity interfaces that provide deep utility while avoiding visual clutter.

What's next for REMINDER SYNC

  • Global Desktop Clipboard Sync: Bringing ReminderSync to macOS and Windows with a global hotkey for instant snippet pasting across any desktop app.
  • Smartwatch Complications: Quick-add voice capture directly from WearOS and Apple Watch.
  • Calendar Two-Way Bridge: Syncing scheduled reminder blocks directly into Google Calendar and Outlook.
