Inspiration

The idea came to me a few years ago, but I only decided to take action this year because the issue became increasingly frustrating. I was losing important contacts, and it was time to do something about it. While there are similar apps available, most are either paid without offering free plans or come with a lot of unnecessary features, making them overly complicated. For me, simplicity and intuitiveness are key.

What it does

Remindely is a simple contact reminder app that helps you build stronger relationships by reminding you to keep in touch with people around you. If you have a busy life, attend various events and use a Notes app to write important updates about the people you met, you will probably would make a good use of Remindely :)

How we built it

I developed the app using Flutter, with Firebase as the backend for data storage, scheduled notifications, and user authentication.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was writing cloud functions to schedule notifications across different time zones making sure users get the notifications on the correct time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of creating a minimum viable product (MVP) within a month, especially considering I have a full-time job and a family to care for. Building both the app and its landing page and releasing everything on time was a significant achievement for me.

What we learned

While building the landing page, I learned to use a new Dart framework called Jaspr, which shows a lot of promise for web development. Additionally, this was my first time launching a personal app on the Apple Store and the first time in two years releasing an iOS app, making the entire process an exciting challenge.

What's next for Remindely

The next steps involve gathering feedback and improving the overall user experience while keeping the app as simple as possible. I'm also excited about developing features like voice notes and Calendar integration.
